Who is that behind the camera?

Hi, I'm Sarah! Chances are, I'll never look like I do in my pictures. As a matter of fact, don't even look for the woman in these pictures! You can almost ALWAYS find me in leggings, a t-shirt, and a messy bun. I live on coffee and Jesus. My husband and our kiddo's will always come first. I'm a sucker for a pretty sunset, a movie nerd, always down to pick some crabs, a recovering potato chip addict, and I have a touch of OCD. But, I’m totally willing to roll in the dirt to get THE shot.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

I have always been a picture junkie. Even as a child, you'd find me with a camera in my possession nine out of ten times. That turned into documenting everything in my life starting with film, then digital cameras, and eventually phones. I bought my first DSLR in 2015 after having my son. I took pictures for myself alone - no other reason. Until I started getting asked, "Hey! I love your pictures! Can you do mine?" That's when this whole operation was born! I pushed myself to learn and grow outside of my comfort zone, and I still am today! Even on the toughest days, I wouldn't change a thing.

BUT...HOW?

Thanks to my hard working husband, Chris, I became a stay at home wife in 2013 and turned into a stay at home momma in 2014 when our first was born. In that time I learned a whole new appreciation for cherishing memories. As any parent of littles, I quickly learned that they grow up way too fast. Naturally, I did my best to freeze time and savor it all. In the spring of 2022, I decided to pursue something that had always been a bit of a passion for me. In just a short time, I had the privilege of having hundreds of faces behind my lens. Fast forward to today, I am happy to be a rising photographer in Maryland - specifically in both Baltimore and Harford counties.

WHY DO I DO THIS?

I began offering photography on the side with the intention of giving what I have very seldom been able to find for myself: quality photos, at a fair price, that do not take months to get back. Having family photos done should never break the bank or cause you unnecessary stress. Documenting your life, your story, or at the very least the major moments in between, is what is most important. Trust me, you don't ever want to look back and not be in the picture. Or worse - not even have the pictures to look back on. That's where I come in. I'm happy to help you through the entire process - start to finish.

MY STYLE:

It is important to know that when picking your photographer, you're really picking their style. Almost anyone can take a photo, but how they frame the shot, how they edit, and how they shoot is really what separates them from other photographers. Questions you should ask yourself when choosing your photographer are things like, "Do I prefer dark and moody or light and airy?" Or, "Do I rely on heavy photoshop for the perfect photo or prefer to leave things more natural?" I personally do NOT dabble in photoshop. It is not my area of expertise. I rely on my knowledge and skill to capture ideal photos. I believe in keeping photos as close to natural as possible and not creating something that never happened. Photos are memories - I believe by keeping them as original as possible, we respect the event as it happened: the good, the bad, and everything in between. This means, I will not be able to change your height, body shape, add individuals who were not present, remove individuals, etc. Whether you like it or not, that is how it happened and that's exactly what you will get.
